Mixing function and design for a playful retail space
Chris and Nikki relocated from Canada to Shoreditch to open Shake Sound, a homewares store for cocktail lovers. Bringing with them a passion for mixology, they envisioned a retail space that felt both playful and functional.
The shop needed to meet the demands of daily service - open shelving to showcase their vast collection of glassware and cocktail accessories, and ample storage for boxes and stock. Situated on design-conscious Curtain Road, they turned to Lozi for a local designer with a sharp eye for detail and a flair for creative solutions.
Working closely with the couple, Lozi developed a series of functional, bespoke pieces that combine colour with playful shapes and forms, creating a retail space that is as practical as it is inviting.
The open window display shows products at eye level whilst keeping natural light flowing through. A playful scalloped top, pairs with the shop’s green exterior, setting the tone from the street. Two Sunset Lamps hang over the display, providing a warm glow in darkness. A dowel-pin adjustable shelving system allows the shelves and glass holders to move for multiple display options.
On entering the shop, visitors are greeted by a sweeping counter. Its curved, grooved front guides the flow of the space, while a deep red laminate worktop provides ample room for wrapping purchases. A custom sign in matching laminate strengthens brand presence, whilst sliding shelves along the counter offer last-minute buys.
Behind the counter, generous shelving keeps bags and wrapping materials neatly organised. A lockable cabinet adds security for valuables, and external hooks ensure carrier bags are always within easy reach.
A generous display unit showcases vintage glassware, with a cabinet below providing easy-access storage behind sliding doors. Curved edges and a subtle splash of green with yellow echo the counter opposite.
Designed for cocktail-making classes, the mobile bar cart glides easily across the shop floor with its dowel handle and heavy duty casters. A sharp yellow, grooved front pairs with the soft laminate top, while the reverse provides discreet storage.

After submitting your enquiry and confirming a quote that suits your budget, you'll be allocated one of our highly skilled designer-makers and they will schedule a site visit, where relevant. Based on your requirements and personal style, we'll provide a digital 2-D design to visualise the project outcome. Your designer-maker will ensure the experience is stress-free, supporting important design decisions and providing tailored, design-led solutions. All Lozi furniture is then made in-house and if appropriate, carefully installed by the designer-maker and workshop team.
