We’re currently hiring for the following roles:

Junior Freelance Furniture maker at Lozi

Hackney, London E2

We’re looking for freelance junior furniture makers to work with us on making our minimal, modern plywood furniture at our Work/Shop on Hackney Road in East London. The day rate for this position is £100-£140, depending on experience. 

You’ll be teaming up with Senior Makers to assist in manufacturing a wide variety of plywood furniture projects of all scales – from complete House of Lozi interiors to bespoke furniture items and our product and accessories range. Daily roles and responsibilities will include helping to machine projects, sanding and finishing parts as they come off the CNC and assembling units.

The role is primarily based at our beautiful Work/Shop on Hackney Road, but you’ll also help to install furniture on-site across London. Seeing how design can change a space, and the impact it has on our customers, is one of the most satisfying parts of our work. 

We’re a close-knit team who genuinely care about each other and love what we do; we keep ourselves inspired with regular whole-team Culture Days and every person is ready to help each other out with whatever needs to be done, regardless of role or department.

We’re committed to a high level of making and continuously develop our work through feedback and improvement loops; whether it’s ways to refine designs for easier making or ideas to take something to the next level for our customers, your opinion as a maker here isn’t just invited – it’s required.

Responsibilities will include:

• Making high-quality plywood furniture at all scales – both bespoke and products.

• Operating the table and mitre saws, power tools and hand tools - provided by the company.

• Assisting with installing furniture on site, both within London and beyond as required.

• Showing potential customers around the showroom and workshop.

• Working with project documentation; reading and understanding technical drawings.

• Maintaining equipment and spaces for a safe, efficient and inspiring working environment. 

• Prioritising sustainable making practices with efficient use of materials and minimal waste.

• Upholding high standards of quality construction, attention to detail and finishing.

What we’re looking for:

• Full time availability: Monday to Friday 8.30-5.30pm

• Detail-oriented across all areas - making, time planning and workshop standards

• Collaborative, enthusiastic and driven attitude

• Some previous experience of making in a professional workshop

• Familiarity with technical drawings and design systems

• Confidence with power tools and hand tools 

• Interest in contemporary culture and design

• Any experience of installing residential and/or commercial projects would be a plus

• A UK driving licence would be a plus
